The Libraries & Archives in South Asia (LASA) wiki is a collaborative effort to compile a guide to South Asian libraries and archives for academics and researchers in the humanities and social sciences. The LASA wiki contains detailed information about libraries and archives in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. It aims to become a full-fledged portal to research in South Asia, for the scholarly community and by the scholarly community.
Every entry in the wiki can be improved upon with new or updated information. A typical entry contains location, contact information, basic access and collection information and a link to the institution's website when it is available. More detailed information, including maps, photographs, links to online catalogs, etc. are provided when available. As an example, see the entry for the Roja Muthiah Research Library
We hope to add new features, as the wiki develops.
Welcome to the LASA wiki. We welcome your contributions.
LASAwiki is a project of the Digital South Asia Library (DSAL) developed by the University of Chicago Library with support from the Division of the Humanities at the University of Chicago.
Navigation of the wiki is possible in a number of different ways. One way is by using the page-tree on the right of the page. This is divided by country, then by city for Afghanistan, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka or by state/province/division and city in the case of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Each city contains a list of libraries and archives located in that city. Click on the + button to expand the page-tree. Clicking on any element in the page-tree will take you to that page. You can also read about other ways to navigate the wiki.
The wiki supports full-text searching of entries and searching by important fields. For a full-text search of all entries use the search box directly above the page-tree on your right. You can also read about other ways to search the wiki.
Anyone can edit or add new entries and information in a straightforward and simple manner. Read more about how to edit and add to the wiki.
